While you took Vocabulary Quiz #2, I checked and gave you credit for Hamlet study guide #2. Then, we talked about 1.5.
HW: Look back through Act 1 and begin compiling notes on the motifs and themes listed below. Your notes should include a brief description/explanation of how we see the theme and/or the lines/phrases that include the motif. Don't forget to include page numbers and line numbers.

Made a chart of similarities and differences between Ancient Greek drama and Shakespearean drama, noted some terms (soliloquy, aside, iambic pentameter, blank verse, heroic couplet), talked about some details of the beginning of Hamlet.
HW: Nope.

Vocabulary Quiz, then SSR, then we talked briefly about what your practice reading test scores mean. We'll take the real test next week, so eat your breakfast on Tuesday and show up ready to earn an "Exceeds"!
AP Lit:
Vocabulary quiz (that literally took moments.) We talked for a few minutes about some of the changes between theater for the Ancient Greeks and Shakespeare's England. We then began reading the first scene of Hamlet together.
HW: Read through Act 1, scene 3 for Tuesday and complete the study questions. Be ready to discuss anything you're confused about.

Today we finished the OAKS Reading practice test, finished the Greek Roots pretest and had a few minutes of work or library time.
HW: Study for vocabulary quiz. Remember to bring SSR book.
AP Lit:
We watched the awesome animated Oedipus with vegetables, and listened to Tom Lehrer's Oedipus Rex song. Then you had a few minutes to finish your in-class essay and begin brainstorming for the "creative" writing assignment which is due on Tuesday.
HW: Study your vocab for tomorrow. We'll begin reading Hamlet together and over the weekend you'll need to read through scene 3 of Act 1 and complete the study questions.

We continued working on the practice reading test. We'll finish that up tomorrow and possibly start to discuss the answers. If you finish up, you will also have the chance to finish the Greek Roots Pretest (if you didn't finish last week) and possibly go to the library to look for an SSR book.

Today we worked on an in class Oedipus essay. You'll have chance to finish that up tomorrow, if needed. Also, we'll start working on a creative interpretation of Oedipus tomorrow.
HW: Vocab quiz will be on Friday, followed by beginning Hamlet together.

Took some notes on the 6 question types from the OAKS Reading test.
Read a sample passage, answered 7 questions and identified each question type.
AP Lit:
Made a list-- Oedipus' missteps.
HW: Make a list of sight/blindness references in Oedipus. Tomorrow we will have an in-class essay and (possibly) begin another creative Oedipus assignment.

I'm so sorry I wasn't with you today, but I decided to stay home in an attempt to kick this lingering cold. In my absence, here's what you accomplished:
Freshmen: Made posters of last semester's vocabulary words. These may just come up on a end of the year final exam, so be reviewing them regularly.
AP Lit: Looked back through Trifles to find lines that may have multiple meanings, depending on how they are expressed. I'll collect your ideas on this and your responses to A Jury of Her Peers tomorrow.

We discussed Trifles and Jury-- which we preferred, why and titles. Also , discussed the ideas you came up with yesterday.
HW: Read Introduction to Greek Tragedy for tomorrow.
